And then you ask: "What is Soopa?"

We are a lot of things: a musician's collective, concert promoters, and a record label, an ever-mutating structure that revolves around the Porto, Portugal-based core of Jonathan hhy and Filipe The Banshee, with a massive of close collaborators, like Miguel Autoblack (Soopa agent in Lisbon), Gustavo River Guts (Most People Have Been Trained To Be Bored, Lost Gorbachevs, Let's Go To War Records, etc), Henrique Gameboy (Srosh, Lost Gorbachevs) Scott Nydegger (Sikhara, Radon Collective), Benjamin Brejon (Mécanosphère, Beast Box) or João Martins (Lost Gorbachevs, etc) and many occasional partners from all over the map, both musically and geographically.

The music we've produced in the last years in our Bunker 207 studio, or in concerts in Portugal, Spain, France, Germany and the USA, encompasses various ultra-hip styles, from booty metal to extreme ethnics, passing through suncore, retroclap, most-modernism or stadium improv, to name a few.
We've been fortunate enough to collaborate, onstage or off, with great people such as Massimo Zu (ZU), Damo Suzuki (Damo Suzuki's Network), Ripit (RIposte Records, Solar Skeletons, Petrified), Eugene Chadbourne, DJ Scotch Egg, Alejandro González Novoa, Raymond MacDonald (Glasgow Improvisers' Orchestra), Pedro Tudela and Miguel Carvalhais (@C, Crónica Electrónica), Steve Mackay (Radon Ensemble, The Stooges) Robin Fox and Anthony Pateras (Synaesthesia), John Sharp (Mr. Natural, Radon Collective) and Ove-Naxx.

As concert promoters, we've organised shows in Porto, Lisbon and other parts of Portugal for most of the aforementioned musicians, and also for DJ/Rupture, Hototogisu, Tim Olive and Nishikawa Bunsho, Richard Youngs, Curse Ov Dialect, Chris Cutler, Vayasaki Das, Jeffrey Lewis, Glenn Jones, Jack Rose, Tapan Battacharya, Alias, Knifehandchop, Team Shadetek, Anthea Caddy and Thembi Soddell, Max Tundra, Rotator, Drop The Lime, Sickboy, Lucas Abela and Sean Baxter, among many others.

Finally, as a label, we've released around 10 CDs or CD-Rs, which you can check at the "Muzik" section of this website.
