The Puppeteer

João Paulo Seara Cardoso, the puppeteer

A seminal portuguese theatre/marionette/television director and puppeteer, working since the 70s in the fine arts of puppeteering, illusion and theatre. His massive body of work combined traditional portuguese puppets with more contemporary approaches, creating a number of landmark TV series deeply rooted on, and expanding from, popular portuguese cosmologies (an approach that influenced F.R.I.C.S., who had the great honour of having
him in their audience a few times).

The last play that he directed was "Make Love Not War", based on the classical Greek comedy "Lysistrata" by Aristophanes, with a soundtrack by Jonathan Saldanha.

A great friend and a man of endless vision, he passed away on October 29th.
