Festival Matanças

On December 23, Porto's psychedelic underground scum, including artists from Soopa, staged the first edition of Matanças, a cathartic ritual designed as an exorcism for the hate and aggression accumulated during the year.

The festival featured numerous bands from the local psychic-death, anarcho-satanic and contemporary-occult scenes, such as Brutos da Natureza, Cabidela, Morte Shopping, Lost Gorbachevs and Besta Bode, in which Soopa's Jonathan HHY and Filipe the Banshee venture into the realms of heavy mental metal under the band names of Besta (Jonathan) and Bode (Filipe).

Firmly rooted in the venerable tradition of sublimated, ritualized and focused violence, the event will be repeated on a yearly basis, allowing for a whole nucleus of Porto's music scene to deal with the demons they incorporate during a year of hard work.
